Adrian Borland - Brittle Heaven review (Big Takeover nr.36 1994)

date: May 8, 1994

ADRIAN BORLAND - BRITTLE HEAVEN
(Play It Again Sam)

Not quite as good as 1989's Alexandria, and still well outclassed by his six albums as the leader of THE SOUND, but still very inspired work. Song craft is a lost art, but Borland's always had it, and his lush, pretty, full-bodied backing tracks always bring out the best in his material. 14 songs, one hour of finely-woven tapestry, of gorgeous music, completely worth the $23 I finally shelled out to get it.
